Characteristics:
small sample of the Les Petas layer, extracted many years ago from the mine in Regné, nowadays owned by Ardennes Coticules.

Coticule Dimensions:
bout with nearly rectangular surface 80X20mm
Speed on slurry:
fast
Feedback on slurry:
slurry had a soapy texture, that dampened the very fine but present abrasive feel of the hone.
Slurry dilution seemed to increase that abrasive feel at first, probably because the dampening reduced. Later in the dilution phase, the abrasive feel diminished to an almost glass like sensation.
Slight draw.
AutoSlurry:
no
Slurry Keenness Limit:
shaves arm hair well
Speed on water:
slow
Feedback on water:
Very minor traces of abrasive feel, mostly glass like, but with the presence of a clear draw.
Extremely slow discoloration of the water, combined with some autoslurrying, but too insignificant to really declare this stone as "autoslurring".
Edge Qualification:
mellow
Background:
The sample was lent for testing by Ardennes Coticule. It is the last remaining piece of a layer that was partially mined long time ago, at the Regné mine. The Layer is still present, but no immediate plans to recommence extraction of Les Petas at Regné exist at this time.

Ardennes Coticule display cabinet
